Learn from Recent Oregon Medical Marijuana Dispensary Inspections: Use Child-Resistant Packaging

By | Blogs | No Comments

child resistant packaging photoOne of the most common violations Oregon Health Authority inspectors ran into in recent random visits to medical marijuana dispensaries was the lack of child-resistant packaging.

State inspectors with the Oregon Health Authority in Oregon are required by law to inspect medical marijuana dispensaries within six months after receiving their licenses to operate and annually after that. To date, 58 of Oregon’s 158 licensed dispensaries have undergone a review and according to the Oregon Health Authority’s most recent report lack of child-resistant packaging is an easily correctible deficiency that some dispensaries are guilty of.

In each case where deficiencies were found, the dispensary operators were given 10 days to submit a written plan as to how they would address the problem.

Kush Bottles makes it easy for medical marijuana dispensaries to conform to child-proof packaging requirements. Learn from Oregon’s recent inspections—make Kush Bottles child-proof bottles part of the service you provide your medical marijuana customers. It will not only make you look good, it will keep you in compliance.

3 Reasons Why Abraham Lincoln Would Approve of Illinois' Medical Marijuana Pilot Project

By | Blogs | No Comments

lincoln image for kush bottles medical marijuana blogEver wonder what our 16th president would think of the medical marijuana pilot project underway in “The Land of Lincoln?”

The way we look at it, he’d be behind HB 1, the law that makes it legal for physicians to prescribe medical marijuana for patients suffering from at least one of 33 qualifying medical conditions. Why?

1. He was a man of vision. Lincoln is one of history’s finest examples of a true leader—he saw what needed to be done—eliminate slavery—and he set about to do it. Odds are in the midst of today’s medical marijuana debate, he would see the clear path once again and blaze our way to it.

2. They didn’t call him “Honest Abe” for nothing. When faced with the research confirming the medical benefits of cannabis in dealing with certain medical conditions, he would tell the truth—it works!—and not be swayed by the politics of the matter.

3. Lincoln understood other people’s needs. Historians laud Lincoln’s ability to put himself in other people’s shoes. Surely he would understand the plight cancer and MS patients face and the agony parents of children with epilepsy endure and work to shape public policy that could help these people. Illinois’ Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Pilot Program Act does just that. No doubt about it—Lincoln’s signature would have been on that legislation.

Not only was Lincoln a politician, he was also a parent, so we’re sure his support of Illinois medical marijuana would include the requirement for Illinois medical marijuana child proof packaging. Lincoln would not refute the scientific evidence which supports the effectiveness of child resistant packaging in reducing the accidental ingestion of substances by children under the age of 5. He’d insist on ASTM certified child resistant packaging which is considered the gold standard in the industry. We’re happy to know that Lincoln would endorse Kush Bottles medical marijuana child proof bottles because they hold the ASTM D3475-14 Standard Classification of Child Resistant Packages.

Can you think of another reason why Lincoln would have supported medical marijuana legislation in Illinois? Give us your thoughts.
