1. Do the right thing. For those of us in the industry, that means doing all we can to ensure the safety of our customers and the reliability of our product. Lack of standard regulation in states where marijuana has been legalized means that the responsibility for seeing that customers get what they need consistently, falls on the individual business owner. Here at Kush Bottles, we are doing our part by providing child-resistant packaging for marijuana products at both the dispensary, as well as individual user level.
2. Push for more standardization within the industry. Bad news travels fast, and with social media and the Internet, it travels even faster. So you can be sure that the uneducated consumer who has a bad experience because he or she ate more than the recommended dosage of an edible will make the headlines and reinforce the negative stereotypes that have hurt the industry to-date. Clear labeling, standardized potency measurements—these are all hallmarks we need to push for in boosting the marijuana industry’s image.
3. Keep the federal government moving in the right direction. It was a start this year when Congress passed a $1.1 trillion spending bill that keeps the feds from using tax dollars to raid medical marijuana dispensaries in states where it is legal. While we have a long way to go, anyone who knows how government works, realizes this speaks volumes about the pressure Washington is starting to feel about the issue. Let’s keep the heat up.
4. Start your cannabis investment fund. You’ve got your travel fund, your retirement account, make this the year you start setting aside money to invest in the cannabis industry. Todd Harrison, CBO and founder of MInyanville It’s like seeing a slight A provision in the $1.1 trillion spending bill passed by Congress bars the federal government from using its resources to go after medical marijuana in states where it is legal.
